The Great Pause of 2020 wasn't supposed to break us.

Remember back when "nature [was] healing"?

For a moment, we caught sight of a culture of care that served our health, our communities, and our planet.

Since then, many of us spend our down time scrolling social media. For chronically ill and science-minded folks, this is a key way to keep up on the latest hopeful discovery, or to find comfort in a like-minded new friend or two. Maybe you’ve found mutual aid organizations growing in your town, or a handful of small businesses or arts collectives that still value health-minded ethics.

But it's hard to find the others.

Resources are scattered across platforms, information overload comes easily, and a social media mental health break means you miss everything. We deserve to have IRL places to connect, but the Urgency of Normal has seemingly left us with two choices: isolate forever or keep getting sick. Neither is tenable for long, and deep down everyone knows it.

We want joy back in our lives, and that requires people and safety.

It’s time we strengthen and affirm our budding networks of care by taking them offline. To truly instigate cultural change, we have to find the others. What’s the first baby step toward revolution? Knowing when and where to show up!

Find the Others offers three easy ways to learn about upcoming clean air events:

FTO Digest

This is a free newsletter for the hopeful plague-aware who want a social life again. You’re overwhelmed by the vast amount of information sharing on social media, and crave a simple calendar of hangout options for the next few weeks. You’re tired of always being the friend or family COVID Safety Officer, and wish that the emotional labor of managing masking and testing agreements was handled so that you could simply show up. Our newsletter helps you by centralizing local happenings so that you can be with people again, with much less effort.

Your weekly Find the Others Digest is a collection of clean air events in your local area, arriving at your inbox every Thursday morning. Events are systematically gathered across the online platforms of all of your local organizations, businesses, arts collectives, and more so that you can finally take that social media mental health break without missing a thing. Events happening the upcoming weekend are prioritized, but you’ll also get a heads up on tickets you may need to purchase in advance.

Events that make it to FTO Digest have clear accessibility and clean air practices listed, such as masking and/or testing requirements and the HVAC capabilities of the venue, so that you can RSVP confidently. You'll neither be the odd masked one out, nor will you fret about getting sick the next few days afterward. What a relief!

We will never spam you or share your information with anyone else, and you can use an alias in lieu of your real name for privacy if you prefer.
